Dr. Alice Moran was born in Boston, Massachusetts on January 22, 1955.
After graduation from Hyde park High School in 1972, she attended Forsyth School
for Dental hygienists in Boston earning an Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene in
1974. She then attended Northeastern University earning a BA in Biology in 1976.
After working as a dental hygienist for two years, she enrolled in Dental School at
the Medical University of South Carolina College of Dental medicine in Charleston and graduated in 1982.
Alice entered the Navy in July of 1982.Her first duty assignment was Assistant
Dental Officer at the Naval Training Center, Orlando, Florida. In 1985 she was
transferred to the Navel Dental Clinic, Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico, where she served
as Assistant Dental Officer until 1988. In 1988 she began an Advanced Clinical Program
in Periodontics at the Naval Dental Center, San Diego. After completion of her program,
she became the Department Head of Periodontics at Naval Air Station Miramar until
1990. From 1990 to 1991 she was assigned to the Naval Dental Center, San Diego
Periodontics Department. In 1991 Dr. Moran began a Periodontics residency at
the Naval dental School in Bethesda, Maryland. After graduating from the residency,
she assumed the position of Periodontics Department Head at Marine Corps Air Ground
Combat Center, 29 Palms, California. She completed her board certification in May
1995. In 1996 she transferred to the Naval Dental Clinic, Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico
and served as the Department Head of Periodontics until June 1999 when she was
subsequently assigned to the Naval Dental Center, Camp Pendleton, California, San
Onofre Branch Clinic. She served as the Branch Director, Periodontics Department
Head, and Periodontics Command Consultant until September 2002.
Dr. Moran was involved in teaching AEGD and GPR students while in the Navy.
She continues to participate in annual testing of USC periodontics residents and while on
active duty, instituted a dental hygiene rotation to 29 palms and Camp Pendleton for
Loma Linda Dental Hygiene students. She is now in full-time private practice in San
Clemente, California.
Alice is a member of the America Dental Association, the American Academy
or Periodontology, the America Board of Periodontology, the California Dental
Association, the California Society of Periodontists, the Orange County Dental
Association, and the Orange County Women's Dental Association.
